Cirrhosis is the scarring of the liver resulting from long-term damage due to inflammation. This damage can be caused by numerous things, but the most common causes of cirrhosis are hepatitis C and long-term alcoholism. In the United States of America, liver disease is the fourth leading cause of death in adults ranging from ages 25 to 64 who reside in the urban areas. So if you drink on a regular basis you need to be particularly careful, since too much alcohol consumption will make your liver easily vulnerable.

Other causes that aren’t as common could be by certain medications and chronic viral infections. The way the liver repairs the damage being done is by forming scar tissues on those areas that have been damaged the most. Unfortunately, the liver will malfunction if there are too many scar tissues preventing it from doing its job. This is the condition called Liver Failure.

A suggested liver detox diet plan for someone who has cirrhosis includes the following:

-  Milk Thistle extract, also known as Silymarin, has been scientifically proven to help repair and rejuvenate the liver. You can take 200 mg of this herb up to three times a day to help alleviate your liver condition.

-  Red clover, dandelion and burdock root are also valuable herbs that help aid in liver repair. They are great because they help cleanse a person’s bloodstream, which is needed to help keep your systems functioning properly.

-  Another excellent herbal remedy is alfalfa. It’s a fantastic source of vitamin K and it helps keep your digestive tract functioning properly and healthy. It also assists in preventing bleeding due to a vitamin K deficiency. This unfortunately is very common with cirrhosis sufferers. Alfalfa can be taken in either liquid or tablet form.

-  Your diet should contain the proper amounts of inositol, choline and lecithin. This is very important. You also want to have the proper amounts of Balkan fiber in your system as well. As a Cirrhosis sufferer you should eat meals consisting about 75% of raw foods, and if your case is severe you should consider eating only fresh vegetables and fruits. You want to eat foods that contain lots of potassium as well. Some other great foods you’ll need to add to your diet include: grains, seeds, brewer?s yeast, almonds, raw goat’s milk and other products that are derived from goat’s milk.

-  Freshly brewed coffee, in appropriate amounts, is recommended as part of your daily intake.

Also, keeping your colon clean is vital. This is because the toxins that accumulate in the liver must be eliminated through the colon and kidneys. You should also avoid foods that will get you constipated. It puts undue pressure on your liver and forces it to work twice as hard in order to eliminate your waste.

You should consult your physician with this liver cleanse diet plan. There may be need for your physician to refer you to a dietitian to assist you in planning.  There are so many do’s and don’ts when it comes to the right choice of liver cleansing diet to prevent liver failure through cirrhosis, and sometimes it is hard for the average person to figure out what to do.  There are several different web sites that offer assistance and suggestions.  Some suggest organic diets, others suggest using certain herbs and spices. Whereas all of these ideas may be good, your doctor knows your body and understands your specific medical needs better. For example if you are diabetic, there would be different food and/or nutritional requirements than for a person who is not. There may be certain medications that you may be on for other medical reasons that may come into play. Consider everything. Most importantly choose a doctor you trust, then follow his/her advice.

Fatty Liver Diet For People Living With Fatty Liver Disease

2011

A lot of people had no idea what fatty liver disease was all about a few decades ago, but today it has become quite popular. It is now the most popular type of liver disease in the U.S. affecting about 1 in every 5 Americans.

Fatty liver condition is a silent but very dangerous disease that slowly does damage to the liver and the body. Fatty liver is a condition where fat (triglycerides) is accumulated inside the liver cells. This condition if left unchecked can lead to inflammation of the liver, liver cancer, liver failure, scarring of the liver and even death.
While alcohol is one of the main causes of fatty liver it is now known that it is not the only cause. Factors such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, sedentary lifestyle, high fat diets, type II diabetes, toxins, high cholesterol, diets high in fructose or glycemic, hypertension, medications and insulin resistance. Surprisingly, factors such as drastic weight loss, malnutrition and starvation diets can also lead to fatty liver.

When the liver becomes accumulated with too much fat, the fat fills up the spaces within the liver cells and increases the overall weight and size of the liver. The enlargement of the liver affects its ability to work properly. A healthy liver is supposed to metabolize fats in the body and filter the blood to remove harmful chemicals and toxins. A liver affected by too much fat cannot perform these functions properly and will lead to scarring of the liver and death of the cells in the liver. To correct the problem, a healthy fatty liver diet can be used as a liver detox strategy.

Fatty liver is a very serious issue that should not just be overlooked. The condition is closely associated with obesity and diets containing high amounts of fat or cholesterol and in America for example, a large percentage of the population is overweight or struggling with weight issues while the average diet is rich in fat.

Patients with fatty liver usually do not usually develop too much symptoms until the liver has become quite enlarged. This is why it is most important that a proper diet is followed now and not until the condition is diagnosed. People with advanced cases usually have to cope with severe pain on their right side. The aching or dull pain is as a result of the pressure of the enlarged liver on other surrounding organs. The inflammation also stretches the liver lining and that can also cause pain. Other symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, jaundice, swollen ankles or stomach and vomiting of blood.

As can be clearly seen, fatty liver is not a condition to be taken lightly. If a person’s liver is not functioning properly, it would mean that harmful toxins that should be removed from the body will remain to cause more damage. It is important to take the right steps to prevent and reverse fatty liver condition before it gets too late.

To avoid, reverse or properly control fatty liver conditions it is important that people learn to eat right. Eating right involves more than just eating less fat, because even a starvation diet can lead or aggravate the condition. It entails a healthy liver cleanse diet that will not deposit fat in the liver.

The fatty liver diet guide is an effective guide that has helped people with fatty liver disease to reverse the condition. This comprehensive diet guide contains several fatty liver cleansing meal plans that can be simply implemented and it even contains fatty liver meal recipes that can help the liver detox to slowly reverse the condition.

Liver Cleansing Diet for those with Liver Disease

Liver disease is a difficult disease.  When someone is told they have liver disease, the first thing that comes to mind is impending death. Usually, this is not necessarily the case.  With adequate care and proper diet, the condition can be successfully brought under control.  A liver detox diet plan is very essential for successful care of liver disease.  And as with any diet, it will not be easy.  Working with a dietitian will help the patient learn proper foods and nutritional do’s and don’ts needed for effective care. There are several basic rules, depending on which type of liver disease you are dealing with. Today,  I will discuss diet for Fatty Liver Disease (FLD) also called Hepatic Steatosis.

Fatty liver disease is a liver disorder brought about due to excessive fat accumulation – specifically triglycerides in the liver. Even with excess fat accumulation in the liver, symptoms may not show immediately. They usually come out later at a worse scenario. This makes fatty liver disease a tricky one, and should be treated with great care. If untreated, this can lead to liver cancer, cirrhosis, and eventually liver failure. This is why regulation through a designed diet for the liver is essential.

A diet for the liver must include;

-  Low fat or non-fat foods, especially dairy products.

-  High fiber intake through fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates that can be found in whole grains, brown rice, and wheat bread.

- Essential vitamins, minerals, and other food groups should also be considered to determine the specific meals to take each day.

-  Water intake is necessary.

-  Regular exercise.

Alcoholic beverages should strictly be avoided. Although meats are a good source of protein, too much of protein in a diet for the liver will stress the liver even more. So, alternatively you should try seafood, beans, and lean meats – especially those that have only been steamed or boiled. Fruits and vegetables should always be present in every meal, especially green vegetables and citrus fruits, which contain folic acid and vitamin C, respectively. The important thing in having a diet plan for fatty liver is that fat content should be regulated.

To be on the safer side, all decisions about your food intake should be made in consultation with a dietitian who works in conjunction with your doctor. Generally, dietary requirements may vary. You may have specific dietary requirements that other persons may not have, or there may be some requirements that you need not follow on your liver diet. In most cases, following a strict diet may get your liver functions back in good working order. It all depends on the etiology for your specific condition. There may be a need to stay on medication for a while as well. Come what may – you can do it! Good luck.
